Welcome to GIFLance! These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of our free online GIF converter platform. By accessing or using GIFLance, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

GIFLance provides free, browser-based tools for converting GIFs to frames, images to GIF, and videos to GIF. All processing is performed locally in your browser, ensuring your files never leave your device.

Service Description

GIFLance provides free, browser-based GIF conversion tools including:

  • GIF to Frames: Extract individual frames from animated GIF files
  • Images to GIF: Convert multiple images into animated GIF files
  • Video to GIF: Convert video files (MP4, WebM, AVI, FLV, MKV, MOV) to animated GIF format
  • GIF Optimization: Adjust frame rate, compression, and dimensions for optimal file size
  • Format Conversion: Support for various video formats and image formats

All processing is performed entirely in your browser using client-side technologies. No files are uploaded to our servers, ensuring maximum privacy and security for your content.

User Responsibilities

Users are responsible for:

  • Using the service in compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Not using the service for malicious purposes or illegal activities
  • Respecting intellectual property rights of others
  • Not engaging in spam, abuse, or any behavior that disrupts the service
  • Ensuring you have the legal right to process any files you upload
  • Backing up your files before processing, as we cannot recover lost data
  • Using the service within reasonable limits and not attempting to overload our infrastructure

You acknowledge that you are solely responsible for the content you process through GIFLance and that you have all necessary rights and permissions to use such content.

Prohibited Uses

You may not use our service for:

  • Any illegal or unauthorized purpose
  • Violating copyright, trademark, or intellectual property rights
  • Distributing malware, viruses, or harmful content
  • Violating others' privacy rights or processing content without consent

Intellectual Property

  • User Content: Users retain all rights to their uploaded content. We do not claim ownership of any files you process through our service.
  • Third-Party Content: Third-party libraries and technologies used in GIFLance are used under appropriate open-source licenses (including FFmpeg.wasm, gif.js, video.js, and others).
  • Trademarks: The GIFLance name and logo are trademarks. You may not use our trademarks without our prior written permission.

You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to use your content solely for the purpose of providing the service to you. This license terminates when you stop using the service or when we delete your content.

Disclaimer of Warranties

The service is provided:

  • "As-Is" Basis: GIFLance is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied
  • No Warranties: We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free
  • Browser Compatibility: Service availability depends on your browser's capabilities and support for required technologies (WebAssembly, Canvas API, etc.)
  • File Format Support: While we support many formats, we cannot guarantee support for all possible file formats or configurations
  • Data Backup: Users are responsible for backing up their data. We cannot recover files lost due to browser crashes, system errors, or user error
  • Processing Limitations: Large files or complex operations may exceed browser memory limits or take significant time to process

We disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • GIFLance shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
  • We are not responsible for any loss of data, profits, or business opportunities
  • Our total liability for any claims arising from or related to the service shall not exceed the amount you paid to use the service (which is currently $0, as the service is free)
  • We are not liable for any damages resulting from browser incompatibilities, system failures, or user errors

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you. In such cases, our liability will be limited to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law.

Service Availability

We strive to maintain service availability, but:

  • Scheduled Maintenance: We may perform scheduled maintenance that may cause temporary downtime. We will attempt to provide advance notice when possible
  • Updates: We regularly update our service to improve functionality and security. Updates may temporarily affect service availability
  • Technical Issues: Technical issues may occur beyond our control, including browser bugs, network problems, or third-party service outages
  • Browser Requirements: Our service requires modern browsers with WebAssembly support. Older browsers may not be fully supported
  • File Size Limits: Browser memory limitations may prevent processing of extremely large files

We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time with or without notice.

Termination

Service termination:

  • User Termination: Users may stop using the service at any time by simply closing their browser
  • Our Right to Terminate: We may terminate or suspend your access to the service immediately, without prior notice, for any violation of these Terms or for any other reason we deem necessary
  • Effect of Termination: Upon termination, your right to use the service will immediately cease. All data processed in your browser will be cleared when you close the browser
  • Survival: Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including intellectual property rights, disclaimers, and limitations of liability) will survive termination

Since all processing occurs in your browser, termination does not affect any files stored on your device. However, any in-progress conversions will be lost.

Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction where GIFLance operates, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or the service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in the applicable jurisdiction. If you are located in a jurisdiction that does not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of liability, some of the above disclaimers and limitations may not apply to you.

Dispute Resolution

If you have any concerns or disputes about these Terms or our service, we encourage you to contact us first to resolve the issue amicably.

Any disputes arising from these Terms will be resolved through binding arbitration or in the courts of competent jurisdiction, depending on the nature of the dispute and applicable law. You agree to resolve disputes individually and waive any right to participate in class actions or consolidated proceedings.

Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting on this page. We will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page when we make changes.

Severability
